Creative Wedding Games | Laser Gun Clay Shooting

The average person attends 3-4 weddings in a lifetime, a wedding videographer attends thousands! We have seen many wedding games in our career but laser gun clay shooting would have to be a first for us, and boy was it a blast!

Narghiza Ergashova and Scott Coxhell’s wedding in April saw us onboard the Flying Fish Yacht (Rozzele Superyacht Marina) and we cruised through Sydney’s Harbour with stunning views of the Sydney skyline and Harbour bridge. Their choice of laser gun clay shooting for their wedding games inspired us to share our experiences witnessing such adventurous ideas for entertaining wedding guests.

This will be a regular column in the Cinemotive blog so stay tuned for more ideas to entertain your guests! So lets go through the basics of what this actually is.

What is it?

Laser gun clay shooting is an electronic and thus, safe way for people of all ages to take part in the fun of “ready, aim, fire!”

How does it work?

Most good service providers opt for the modified real shotgun and rather than firing real shells, it shoots out harmless infrared beams. In the hands of a sharp-shooter, these converted shotguns can bring out the sniper in the family!

The clay targets that are launched through the air sends out UHF signals to the scoreboard. So multiple people can shoot at the same target and the scores are tallied individually. You’ll even get realistic sound effects too!

Check out the photos we took at Narghiza and Scott’s yacht reception and their trailer to see the guns in live action!

Tips and advice.

We don’t have a preferred service provider but we have embedded a map of businesses in Australia for wherever you plan on holding your reception. Have fun and safe and happy shooting! Remember, opt for real shotguns/rifles that have been modified so you get the legitimate feeling of shooting a high powered weapon, and if make sure there are sound effects accompanying the trigger so it doesn’t look like an awkward group of people holding fake guns. Have fun, safe and happy wedding games for all!
