Role Summary
Cinemotive, a leading Sydney-based wedding photography and videography studio, is seeking a Behind-the-Scenes (BTS) Social Content Creator on a freelance basis. In this role, you will capture and produce engaging behind-the-scenes photo and video content during weddings and events, crafting short, social media-ready clips tailored for Instagram Reels and TikTok.
You’ll be filming our Cinemotive team in action and candid moments from the day to create authentic content that couples can quickly share (often within a day or two of the event) instead of waiting weeks for polished videos.
This entry-level friendly position offers flexibility and hands-on experience in the wedding industry. You’ll work on a freelance, per-event basis, primarily on weekends, making it ideal for a budding content creator with strong technical skills.
We’re looking for someone enthusiastic and creative who can bring fresh ideas while upholding Cinemotive’s high standards of quality and professionalism in capturing moments. If you are passionate about social media storytelling and excited to be part of a couple’s big day in a new creative way, we’d love to hear from you!
Key Responsibilities
Attend Weddings & Events: Attend wedding days and other events to capture behind-the-scenes content in real time – shooting photos and short video clips throughout the day specifically tailored for Instagram Reels and TikTok.
Capture Candid BTS Moments: Film the Cinemotive team (photographers, videographers, etc.) at work and grab candid moments that the main cameras might miss – e.g., the bride and groom prepping, the groom’s reaction before the ceremony, or fun interactions among the wedding party and guests.
Work Discreetly On-Site: Work seamlessly alongside the main photography/videography crew and other vendors, being as unobtrusive as possible while recording footage.
Generate Creative Content Ideas: Bring ideas for unique behind-the-scenes shots and segments that add fun and value. Whether it’s a time-lapse of the venue setup or a trending TikTok challenge with the bridal party (when appropriate), you’ll proactively identify exciting social-worthy moments.
Edit Short-Form Videos Quickly: Edit and assemble footage promptly after each event (often by the next day) to produce polished, vertical videos and highlight reels ready for social media.
Deliver Social-Ready Content: Provide the final edited photos/videos to the couple and to the Cinemotive team for posting. All content should be formatted for easy viewing on mobile (Reels/TikTok) and meet Cinemotive’s quality standards. (Note: You are not responsible for managing social media accounts – just creating the content and handing it off.)
Required Skills & Experience
Short-Form Content Creation: Proven ability to create engaging short-form video content optimized for Instagram Reels and TikTok (vertical format, snappy edits, use of trending music/filters).
Video Shooting & Editing Skills: Proficiency with video editing tools such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, or similar; familiarity with quick editing apps (e.g., CapCut, InShot) is a plus for on-the-go edits. Basic videography/photography skills (framing shots, adjusting to lighting, steady camera work) are expected to ensure high-quality captures.
Own Equipment: You must have your own camera gear (DSLR/mirrorless with video capability), stabilizer/gimbal, and basic audio gear if required.
Creative Mindset & Trend Savvy: A creative eye and storytelling ability, with a passion for weddings/events and a keen awareness of the latest social media trends. You should be excited about brainstorming new ideas and experimenting with popular formats to wow viewers.
Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail in both shooting and editing – you make sure key moments are not missed and final content looks professional. Ability to multitask in a fast-paced event environment (including standing or moving around for long periods during ceremonies and receptions) is important.
People Skills: Excellent communication and a friendly, professional demeanor when interacting with clients and guests. You’re comfortable chatting with couples and wedding parties to capture fun moments, all while representing Cinemotive with positivity.
Reliability & Flexibility: Availability on weekends (and occasional evenings) to cover events as needed. This is a freelance role – schedules will vary week to week based on bookings, so you should be adaptable and reliable in committing to agreed event dates.
Portfolio/Examples: Entry-level candidates are welcome, but you must provide a portfolio or examples of your social video content (even personal TikTok/Instagram projects) to demonstrate your skills and creativity. Show us what you’ve created – we value talent and passion over years of experience.
Driver’s Licence & Vehicle: As this is a Sydney-based role, you must have your own vehicle and a valid driver’s licence to travel to and from event locations.
Work Arrangement & Culture
This role is freelance and project-based, offering significant flexibility. You will be scheduled for weddings and events on an as-needed basis, coordinated in advance. Most shoots take place on Fridays, Saturdays, or Sundays, with hours depending on each event’s timeline (daytime and evening work is common).
You’ll get to work in different venues and lively wedding environments, each offering new creative opportunities to capture special moments behind the scenes. We foster a collaborative and respectful culture – you’ll be a valued part of the Cinemotive team on event days, contributing your creative flair to make each couple’s experience (and our team’s work) shine.
Join us in this exciting role where you can grow your skills, build your portfolio, and be part of capturing love stories in a whole new way from behind the lens. We can’t wait to see the creativity you’ll bring to our team and to the couples who will treasure the candid memories you help create!
