The only shot list that we ask our couples for is a list of their desired formal family groupings. Having this list written out ahead of time is a huge time saver on the day of your wedding and will assure that no one is missed!
We don’t ask for a wedding shot list from our couples, and here’s why: when a photographer is asked to follow a shot list, it makes it difficult to properly capture real moments as we’re constantly having to refer back to the list rather than paying attention to what’s actually happening around us. We are going to get all of the traditional wedding photos – you don’t have to specify that you want photos of your dress, your first kiss, your flowers, or your guests enjoying themselves at your reception.
That doesn’t mean that you can’t give us direction though! Definitely let us know if your parents have a photo from their wedding day that you’d love to re-create. Definitely let us know if you want a photo with your pet, or at a specific spot or popping into your favourite pub for a quick drink before the reception. Definitely let us know if your best friend from grade school who you haven’t seen in 20 years is there and you want a photo together. We are also always happy to look through your inspiration board to get an idea of your wedding vision!
We simply ask that our couples put their trust in us and in our creative process. This allows us to capture their day in our natural style, capturing all the important moments (both big and small) in a way that reflects the work you see on our website or social media pages.
